Gorbel Ergonomic Cranes & Intelligent Lifts

Gorbel work station ergonomic cranes are a proven way to improve productivity, increase quality, and provide a safer work environment.  More and more companies are using workstation bridge cranes to effectively solve their material handling problems and improve the performance of their business.

Gorbel benefits:

  • Increased productivity
Gorbel work station cranes help your workers work more productively than traditional I-beam cranes.   The productivity increase is possible because bridge cranes require less effort to move than I-beam cranes.  In  most applications, particularly high cycle time applications, customers are able to cost justify the ergonomic crane system with the productivity increases alone.
  • Ease of movement and positioning
Gorbel work station bridge cranes can move a load three times more easily than a traditional I-beam crane. This ease of movement and positioning results from Gorbel's unique enclosed track design, high strength-to- weight ratio, and rigid runways with anti-binding end trucks.
  • Increased Quality
Enclosed track cranes can increase the quality of goods while reducing the cost of damaged or rejected parts. Loads are so easy to move and position with workstation cranes, much of the damage that is done to the product during the manufacturing process is eliminated.
  • Improved work force utilization
Gorbel Work Station Cranes can help you reach the typical ergonomic goal in material handling: Allowing a task to be performed by 90 percent of your workers.

Gorbel's pre-engineered modular kit design permits easy expansion or relocation.  The runway length can be increased by adding runway sections, free standing support assemblies and additional bridges as needed.
  • Better work force utilization
Since physical strength becomes less of an issue with Gorbel ergonomic work station cranes, you can better utilize your work force. This is especially true considering that today's work force is aging, and it is increasing in the numbers of females in industrial jobs.

Gorbel Automated Cranes

Gorbel's Automated Cranes fill the gap between completely manual and completely robotic materials handling solutions. Automated cranes feature encoder based fixed belt positioning and Gorbel designed drive assemblies added to standard ergonomic work station cranes. Automated cranes are built to your specifications, and come with the option for several additional features. You can choose your own components for an ideal automated turn key solution.

Features:

  • Automated crane material handling applications up to 4000 pounds total payload weight

  • Automated cranes for large multiple work cell areas

  • Automated cranes for assembly line product handling; dip tank operations; handling fragile, sensitive material; sheet steel handling; and palletizing operations

Gorbel G-Force TM

The G-Force TM is part of a new family of Material Handling equipment known as Intelligent Assist Devices (IAD's). The G-Force TM uses patented technology and an industrial processor controlled drive system to deliver unmatched lifting precision and speed. The units enable operators to lift and maneuver naturally, as if the device were an extension of their own arm.  The G-Force TM will help improve productivity, reduce the cost of product damage, and minimize work related injuries.

Features:

  • Pinpoint precision - speeds from 1 fpm (0.3 mpm) up to 275 fpm (83 mpm)
  • Blazing speed - travels up to 4 times faster than traditional high end lifting devices
  • Infinite speed control - ideal for applications that require high speed at some points in the cycle and slow, precise movements at other points

The G-Force TM Intelligent Lifting Device  gives the responsiveness and flexibility of a human operator plus the power of a machine. It incorporates a range of speeds so it is perfect for quick, repetitive motions and slow, precise placements.

The G-Force TM is available in two series:

G-Force TM BXi Series

The BXi model comes loaded with standard intelligence features and programmability to customize it to your application. This series comes in capacities of 150 and 300pounds.  Higher capacities are available - contact factory.

Added Intelligence Capabilities:

  • Teachable virtual limits and speed reduction points - unit can be taught to stop or reduce speed when it reaches specific points in its lifting range
  • External inputs/outputs - endless possibilities exist for the I/O on the BXi model. Contact the factory for customized programming to maximize your BXi flexibility.
  • E-stop output - the E-stop can trigger or stop the external system that it is tied to (conveyor, CNC machine)
  • Option to interface with data systems via DeviceNet - external systems that use DeviceNet protocol can read or control the data points and parameters of the G-ForceTM
  • Easily accessible external communications port - any computer equipped with special software can be used to upgrade or monitor performance

G-Force TM BX Series

This streamlined BX Series is a lower cost alternative for those applications that require the speed and precision of the BXi, but not the added intelligence and flexibility.  Available in 150 and 300 pound capacities.  Higher capacities available - contact factory.

Features:

  • Float mode capable
  • Inertia management
  • Mimics human motion
  • Precision capability
  • Speed range adjustment
  • Easy tooling integration
  • Operator indicator lights
  • Instant load fluctuation response system

Both series are available in 150 and 300 pound capacities.

Gorbel G-Force
TM Easy Arm TM
The Brains of a G-Force, The Body of a Jib

The G-Force TM Easy Arm TM is the newest addition to our family of Material Handling equipment known as Intelligent Assist Devices (IAD's). We took our patented G-Force TM technology and an industrial processor controlled drive system and integrated them into an ergonomic articulating jib design.

Available in 150 pound capacity with standard spans of 6, 8, and 10 feet.

This versatile design is ideal for lifting applications that involve:

  • Reaching under obstructions and for low headroom applications - the wire rope goes over a pulley on the beam so you don't lose the headroom taken by the G-Force actuator
  • Reach around vertical obstructions
  • Reach into work cells/doorways and under overhead obstructions
  • Rapid change in direction - you don't have to move the weight of the actuator

Intelligent Crane Device

Gorbel's Intelligent Crane Device is the latest in our new line of Intelligent Assist Devices.  The Intelligent Crane Device is a servo-powered system controlled by the "directional intent" of the operator.  Adding intelligence to the crane enables the operator to start, direct, and stop the load with minimal effort.  It effectively increases safety and productivity by reducing operator injuries and the resulting cost of workers' compensation claims.

Ideal Applications:

  • Applications that require precise positioning by the operator

  • High cycle applications

  • Applications where fast, safe direction changes are needed
